“I have been learning on a weekly basis with Andrew of Manhattan Guitar Institute for 7 years. I can easily say he's the best guitar teacher I've ever had. Put simply: he's helped me play all the pieces I've ever wanted to play. Hard to do better than that!

He's helped me deepen my understanding of music theory and arrangements, which in turn have helped me compose my own pieces, as well as develop many techniques and styles of music. I highly recommend Andrew's lessons.

I'll add that he's also great with young adults/kids. Our three sons (20, 18 and 13) take weekly lessons and have all improved tremendously in guitar, bass and keys.”

“Andrew is the best. He is patient, clear in his instruction and fun to work with. He listens to what I am interested in learning and adapts to my goals. He always takes the time to prepare videos just for me to reinforce what we go over in our classes. My playing has improved dramatically since I’ve started taking lessons with Andrew. I highly recommend Andrew as an instructor for all skill sets and ages.”

“I can't recommend MGI highly enough. Andrew is such an enthusiastic and patient teacher, he's broken down guitar into a thoughtful curriculum that's clear and intuitive. I've picked up more music theory in only 6 months than I ever did during my years of piano as a kid. He always gives me freedom to go where I want next while encouraging me to push myself. I feel like I master a new aspect of guitar after every lesson and not that we're just treading water on the same level. Most importantly, he really cares about his students and is so much fun to work with. Seriously, if you want to learn music as an adult. Take. His. Class.”

“I have been playing electric guitar with Andrew for over 5 years. My playing has advanced from just memorizing songs and solos to having a clearer appreciation of the guitar neck and theory. Andrew has an amazing ear and can quickly dissect any song and find the areas that are teaching moments in these songs. Andrew will motivate you to want to be a better guitar player and deepen your appreciation for music. Amazing instructor!!!”

“Andrew is a gifted guitar instructor. I have been learning with him now for about 9 months. He can seamlessly weave in and out of music theory and back to very practical instruction that can get you to just play. He seems to understand exactly what you need and when, to get the most out of a lesson. I appreciate his hybrid approach, delivering most lessons virtually but seeking to meet live from time to time (always safely!) to provide input from a different angle. This shows true commitment to the project of helping me become a proficient player, as does the effort he puts into sending follow up videos each week recounting each lesson. He provides the right mixture of encouragement and constructive feedback to fuel my desire to improve. His suggestions for how to handle time in between lessons - how and what to work on - has helped immeasurably. The content for each lesson seems personalized and is always engaging. I, and more importantly my family who has to listen to me play, are grateful to be able to call him my guitar teacher.”

“My husband and I received 5 guitar lessons in November from Andrew as a present from our daughter. We were excited about the opportunity to learn something new, but at the same time intimidated by our lack of knowledge of music or let alone learning the guitar at our ages of 60 and 72. But Andrew put our worries at ease on our call before our first lesson and went through what we may be expecting. All of our lessons were online since we lived in SC and he is in NYC. It worked out well for us. Andrew is excellent, very skilled at breaking down elements of reading music one musical note at a time and playing the note on the guitar. It was both fun and simple to learn from Andrew. After five lessons, we can play 7 songs on the guitar from knowing absolutely nothing at all about music notes and guitar. We are so happy to have taken the steps to learn from Andrew and we are going to continue our lessons so we can play music at our daughter's wedding this summer (in six months). It is so rewarding to know that old dogs can learn new tricks and Andrew made it happen for us.”

“Andrew is an incredible guitar instructor. In just a couple lessons he helped me overcome a massive hurdle in my playing. He has a knack for explaining concepts in just the right way so that they click. I have been taking lessons elsewhere for 5 years, and Andrew was able to reframe the way I was thinking about certain concepts that made them feel so much more approachable. I strongly recommend taking lessons with Andrew.”

“Andrew is an amazing teacher. He is patient and thoughtful in how he plans his lessons. My daughter made huge progress with Andrew, having had difficulty sticking to her lessons with others. He makes music interesting and fun. His knowledge of music theory is excellent and he makes the connection to performance. From the first lesson she was playing her instrument in a new way and showing off her new found skills. I would recommend Andrew without reservation”
